The States of Emergency New York & New Jersey

Film synopsis

In addition to fear, panic, and uncertainty, 2020 was the year when many small business owners had their American dreams pushed to the brink.  When the COVID-19 pandemic surged through the country, both New York and New Jersey, two states renowned as cradles for entrepreneurial spirit, forced nonessential businesses to shut down to protect the health and well-being of its citizens.  In the wake of these shutdowns, small business owners found themselves both financially and spiritually compromised as they dealt not only with their closures, yet with racism, xenophobia, and unfair treatment from the states. These brave men and women will share their harrowing tales from behind the scenes, and recount their personal experiences and struggles to retain the American Dream, as they try to answer the question—can I make it one more day?
